This is yet another small bit of

Our main inspiration comes
from the lyrics of Vasile Alecsandri,
a very well-known late Romanian writer,
lyrics that you can find when reading his poem
bearing the same name, "Dorul".

This song is only one more
of the few released
and many yet unreleased songs
to capture elements of history and culture
left behind as heritage
by Romanian ancestors.

The video for this song was shot in Poiana Brasov
during the first edition of Massif Festival 2023,
where David Ciente played a full hour DJ set
showcasing his music and promoting
Romanian ancient culture through EDM music.
The mask he is wearing in this video
is a handcrafted mask, the like of which
you can only find in Romania.
In the heart of Romania,
you can still find places
where time seems to have stalled
and where people continue living
the lives of their ancestors.

MUSIC
This song is an unexpected mix between
country music, electronic, dubstep and
Romanian traditional music.
It is an instrumental song, featuring specific elements
taken or inspired from the Romanian culture,
but uniquely crafted around an
aggressive, festival-like sound.
VIDEO
The music video features a rare find.
It was shot near Sălciua, Romania,
showing men and oxen carrying
hay from the haystack to the barn,
using their antique wooden-wheeled oxcart.
This was a common activity in our ancestors' routine,
but now, it is no more than just a dying tradition.
It is a sheer display of ancient masculine power,
but in the same time, a good example
of the vital partnership between humans and animals
throughout history.
INSPIRATION
Culturally, the video and its overall feel
was inpired by the romanian painter
Nicolae Grigorescu’s famous painting
“Carul cu boi” (“The Oxcart”),
and the music uses elements like
the shepherd’s flute,
playing one melody in different variations.
The shepherd’s flute is well-known to be
the refuge for many shepherds,
especially in mountains and remote areas,
many overcoming loneliness by just playing it.

Thanks to our friends,
Ionel-Radu Butură and Ioan Andrei Praja,
this activity is a step further
from being completely forgotten.
They were happy to let us use
the footage we shot of them working.
This video is dedicated to all the hardworking people
who were here before us,
and whose lives were never easier
than the lives we are capable of having today.
This video would have been possible without my good friend Cătălin Halmi, as he found this place and helped me shoot all the scenes.
This is my new release titled
“Ce te legeni…”,
a song inspired by the lyrics
written by Mihai Eminescu,
who is still considered (more than 130 years after his passing) to be
Romania’s most iconic writer of all time.
